ANANTNAG, APRIL 07: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Dr S.M Ashraf today conveyed a meeting with the bank heads and line departments to discussPMJJBY and PMSBY schemes.

The LDM Jammu and Kashmir Bank Anantnag apprised the chair that under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna (PMJJBY) the insured is covered with two lakhs at a meagre premium amount of rupees 436 annually and has to pay a premium of rupees 20 under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna (PMSBY) and will be insured for two lakhs under Accidental insurance cover.

The eligibility for both schemes is 18-50 and 18-70 besides over 13 crore beneficiaries already stand enrolled under PMJJBY and over 29 crore beneficiaries are enrolled under PMSBY, he added.

In this scheme once the beneficiary is added after that Auto debit of premium from subscribers’ starts, to avoid the lapsing of the insurance policies, added the LDM.

The BDOs and other line officers raised some queries regarding the formalities which were cleared by the bank heads.

ADC while speaking on the occasion said that the unorganised working classes of different sectors which are not able to pay the premium of the scheme of life insurance and are at high risk must get enrolled in the scheme to avail the benefits.

He said the government has launched these schemes keeping the layman's earnings in view and his dependents and directed the bank heads and line departments to enroll all the eligible beneficiaries under these schemes. The bank and BDOs were directed for cooperation and conducting of awareness camps at panchayat level and for enrollments.

The meeting was attended by the programme officer ICDs, ACD, ACP, ACL, BDOs and bank heads of JKB, SBI, EDBI and other banks.
