REASI, JULY 21: Training programme on Rain-Fed Area Development was held today at panchayat Kothian of block Pouni under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY).

 The Training Program organised under the guidance of Director Agriculture Jammu K.K Sharma, was inaugurated by Chief Agriculture Officer, Harbans Singh in presence of Sarpanch Kothian, Neelam Sharma, PRI members and concerned agriculture extension Assistant.

 As many as 30 farmers attended the training programme.

The Chief Agriculture Officer Reasi said that rain-fed agriculture plays a pivotal role in the lives of millions of people, providing a source of livelihood for farmers and sustenance for their families.

He said Reasi district is blessed with natural beauty where farmers are primarily dependent on rain-fed agriculture and there is a need to take strategic steps towards holistic development of available natural resources. He said conservation of natural resources and promoting eco-friendly practices is essential to safeguard the environment and preserve the ecological balance.

District Agriculture Officer Extension Dharmari, Rajesh Verma stressed on afforestation and promotion of sustainable agro-forestry to aid in carbon sequestration, improve soil quality and enhance biodiversity.

 Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Reasi, Vinod Khajuria said that inclusion of women and youth in these initiatives is equally important as they play a significant role in the agriculture sector.

Vote of thanks was presented by incharge Agriculture Extension officer Pouni Amit Pathania.
