New Delhi, India - September 9, 2023: India launched the Global Biofuel Alliance on Tuesday at the G20 Summit, calling on countries to work together to promote the use of biofuels as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.

The alliance, which is co-chaired by India, the United States, and Brazil, aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices on biofuel production and use, and to promote investment in the sector.

"The Global Biofuel Alliance is a timely initiative that will help us meet the challenges of climate change and energy security," said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "By working together, we can make biofuels a mainstream energy source and help build a more sustainable future for all."

The alliance has already received support from 19 countries, including Indonesia, Argentina, and South Africa. The members of the alliance will work together to develop a roadmap for the sustainable production and use of biofuels, and to promote the use of biofuels in transportation.

Biofuels are made from renewable sources such as sugarcane, corn, and soybeans. They can be used to replace fossil fuels in vehicles, and they can help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The launch of the Global Biofuel Alliance is a significant step forward in the fight against climate change. The alliance will help to promote the use of biofuels as a clean and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.

In his speech at the launch of the alliance, Prime Minister Modi said that biofuels could play a major role in India's efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070. He said that India is committed to increasing the use of biofuels in transportation, and that the government is working to create a favorable policy environment for the sector.

The launch of the Global Biofuel Alliance is a welcome development. It is a clear sign that countries are taking climate change seriously, and that they are committed to finding ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The alliance has the potential to make a significant contribution to the fight against climate change, and it is a positive step towards a more sustainable future.
