TVN Media — Editorial
Ethics Policy
Effective Date: September 2026
Last Updated: September 2026
1. Our Commitment
TVN Media is committed to accurate, fair, independent and responsible
journalism in the public interest.
We respect our readers' trust and strive to verify information, provide
appropriate context, clearly identify sources, and promptly correct significant
errors.
2. Accuracy and Verification
We make reasonable efforts to verify facts before publication, including
names, dates, locations, figures and quotations.
Information from government departments, public authorities, press
releases, social media or other external sources will be appropriately
attributed.
Breaking-news reports may be updated as reliable information becomes
available.
3. Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are based on newsworthiness, evidence, public
interest and professional judgment.
Advertisers, sponsors, political parties, government bodies, businesses
or other external organisations cannot determine our editorial coverage or
conclusions.
4. Sources and Attribution
We identify sources whenever reasonably possible.
Anonymous sources may be used when there is a legitimate reason to
protect their identity. Their information will be assessed carefully before
publication.
Information obtained from other publications or organisations will be
properly attributed.
5. Originality and Plagiarism
TVN Media does not tolerate plagiarism.
Our journalists and contributors must not copy another publication's
articles, photographs, videos, graphics or other protected material without
appropriate permission or attribution.
Where another organisation's reporting is used as a significant source,
appropriate credit will be provided.
6. Conflicts of Interest
Employees, journalists and contributors must disclose relationships or
interests that could compromise, or appear to compromise, their editorial
independence.
Editorial positions must not be used for personal, political or
commercial benefit.
7. Gifts and Hospitality
TVN Media employees must not accept gifts, favours or hospitality that
could influence—or appear to influence—their professional judgment.
Reasonable hospitality may be accepted when necessary for legitimate
journalistic purposes, provided editorial independence is maintained.
8. Political Independence
TVN Media does not endorse political parties or candidates through its
independent news reporting.
Editorial employees must avoid political activities that could
reasonably undermine their professional independence.
News coverage will be based on facts and public interest rather than
political preference.
9. Sponsored and Commercial
Content
Advertising and editorial content must be clearly distinguishable.
Sponsored, branded or paid content will be appropriately labelled.
Commercial relationships must not influence independent editorial
decisions.
10. Artificial Intelligence
TVN Media may use artificial-intelligence tools for legitimate editorial
purposes such as research assistance, transcription, translation, formatting or
data processing.
AI-generated information must be independently checked before
publication.
Human editorial judgment remains responsible for all published content.
AI must not be used to deliberately create misleading news, quotations,
photographs, audio or video.
11. Privacy and Sensitive
Information
We respect individual privacy and avoid publishing personal information
that is not relevant to legitimate public-interest reporting.
Additional care will be taken when reporting about children, victims and
vulnerable individuals.
Sensitive personal information will be published only when editorially
justified.
12. Fairness and Right of
Response
TVN Media aims to report fairly and without prejudice.
When serious allegations or criticism are made against an individual or
organisation, reasonable efforts will be made to seek their response.
Responses received after publication may be added or incorporated into
an updated report where appropriate.
13. Images and Multimedia
Photographs, videos, graphics and other visual materials must be
original, properly licensed, used with permission or otherwise lawfully
available for use.
We will not deliberately manipulate visual material in a way that
materially misleads readers.
Illustrative images will not be presented as genuine images of an event
when they are not.
14. Corrections
TVN Media is committed to correcting significant factual errors promptly
after verification.
Readers may report errors through our designated contact channel.
Corrections will be made transparently and, where appropriate,
accompanied by a correction note.
15. Opinion and Analysis
TVN Media distinguishes between:
News — reporting of verified facts and developments.
Analysis — interpretation and examination of events and their implications.
Opinion — an author's clearly identified viewpoint.
Opinion and analysis will not intentionally be presented as established
fact.
16. Breaking News
During developing events, information may change rapidly.
We will distinguish confirmed information from unverified claims and
update reports as reliable information becomes available.
Accuracy remains more important than speed.
17. Accountability
Readers may contact TVN Media regarding concerns about accuracy,
fairness, sourcing, copyright, conflicts of interest or editorial conduct.
Legitimate concerns will be reviewed by the appropriate editorial
authority.
18. Our Editorial Standard
Every person publishing under the TVN Media name is expected to uphold
these principles:
Accuracy.
Fairness.
Independence.
Transparency.
Accountability.
Respect for the public.
TVN Media is committed to continuously improving the quality and
integrity of its journalism.
