SAMBA, MAY 22: The NSS Unit ‘Prabha’, of Government Degree College, Ramgarh, organized an awareness rally under the banner of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (NMBA) and under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav and India’s Presidency in G20.

The rally was organized under the supervision and leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.

 Speaking at the event, she said that ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ intends to reach out to the masses and spread awareness about substance abuse through various activities like awareness generation programmes, focusing on higher education institutions, university campuses and schools, reaching out into the community and identifying dependent population, et cetera. She motivated the NSS volunteers and the students of the College to participate in such activities that shall spread awareness among the local residents of the area. She congratulated the NSS Committee members for such initiatives.

Dr. Shamsher Lal, NSS Programme Officer, briefed the participants about the proceedings of the event. He told the participants about the general traffic rules to be followed during the awareness rally. He also motivated students to always take part in such events aiming at social upliftment.

The awareness rally was carried out from the College to the College’s adopted village ‘Kalah’ and the nearby area. A large number of NSS volunteers and students of the College participated in the rally. They also raised slogans during the rally.

The faculty members including Dr. Shamsher Lal, Dr. Varinder Kour, Dr. Javed Ahmed Ganie,  Ashish Ohri, Ms. Reedima Dabgotra and  Rahul Kundal, also participated in the rally.
