JAMMU: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Munir Ahmed was dismissed from service for concealing his marriage to Meenal Khan, a Pakistani national, an act considered a breach of service conduct and a national security risk. The action followed the March 2025 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that left 26 people dead, triggering heightened scrutiny of cross-border links.

The dismissal, executed without a formal inquiry under special service rules, was confirmed by CRPF authorities in light of Ahmed's failure to disclose his marital relationship with a foreign national—Meenal Khan, a resident of Punjab, Pakistan. The CRPF cited serious lapses in protocol and potential security threats, especially given the sensitive deployment of the force in counter-insurgency operations across Jammu and Kashmir.

Meenal Khan reportedly entered India on a short-term visa and arrived in Jammu, where she stayed with Ahmed. Her visa expired on March 22, 2025, and her presence became contentious after the Indian government ordered all Pakistani nationals to leave the country following the deadly terror strike in Pahalgam.

The couple had married online, bypassing conventional disclosure and verification requirements. Officials noted that Ahmed’s concealment of the marriage not only violated CRPF conduct rules but also posed a grave oversight amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions.

Although Meenal Khan was due to be deported, she secured a last-minute stay order from a local court, temporarily preventing her removal from India. Her legal status remains under review, with central agencies monitoring the case closely.

A senior CRPF officer, speaking anonymously, stated, “In current circumstances, especially after the Pahalgam attack, any undisclosed connection to foreign nationals—particularly from Pakistan—raises red flags. The action taken reflects our zero-tolerance policy toward breaches in operational integrity.”
