Jammu, October 26: The J&K National Panthers Party (Bhim) commemorated Accession Day in Jammu on October 26th by offering floral tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh, the former ruler who signed the Instrument of Accession for the State of Jammu & Kashmir with the Union of India.

Party President, Vilakshan Singh, spoke at the event, recalling that Maharaja Hari Singh executed the Instrument of Accession on October 26, 1947, and the document was formally accepted by Lord Mountbatten, the then Governor-General of India, on October 27, 1947.

Singh described Accession Day as a pivotal moment in the history of Jammu & Kashmir, stating it is a day for all residents to reflect on the region's integration into India and the sacrifices made in its defense. He specifically highlighted the crucial role played by Brigadier Rajinder Singh and the J&K State Forces in resisting the advancement of raiders in the Uri–Boniyar–Baramulla sector in late October 1947.

Singh also pointed out that a significant portion of the former state remains under the control of other nations and urged the Government of India to accelerate efforts regarding "regions of J&K currently administered by Pakistan and China" as a fitting tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh's legacy.

Furthermore, he advocated for the restoration of full statehood for Jammu & Kashmir, arguing that the change in status from a state to a union territory negatively impacted the region's democratic identity and was disrespectful to its populace.

Attendees at the ceremony included Naresh Chib (a contesting candidate from Nagrota), Balwan Singh, Rajesh Gondhi, Sanju Bhagat, Rakesh Gupta, Rajan Jamwal, Sanjeev Verma, and other party members.
