BANDIPORA, AUGUST 20: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), District Bandipora, hosted the Inter-District Provincial-Level Girls Kabaddi Competition for the Under-14 and Under-17 categories at Higher Secondary School Nadihal on Thursday.

The event commenced with an impressive opening ceremony attended by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Bandipora Nazir Ahmad Mir, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Bandipora, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Bandipora, and the Principal of HSS Nadihal.

Addressing the gathering, the ADDC welcomed the participating teams from various districts of Kashmir and encouraged the young athletes to display their talent and competitive spirit. He said that Kashmiri girls possess immense talent and have the potential to excel at national and international sporting events.

The opening round featured several exciting and closely contested matches, with the young players showcasing impressive skill, discipline, teamwork and determination.

In the first round, Bandipora defeated Baramulla, while Ganderbal secured victory over Shopian. Kupwara also emerged victorious against Kulgam.

The competition provides an important platform for young female athletes to showcase their sporting abilities, gain valuable competitive exposure and develop teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. It also reflects the department's continued efforts to promote girls' participation in sports at the grassroots level.
