LG Manoj Sinha with Dr. K. Gopalakrishnan discussing Kashmir Satellite project at IUST

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 23: Dr. K. Gopalakrishnan, Project Director, 75 Students’ Satellites Mission called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, today and discussed the establishment of a Satellite Incubator Centre at IUST.  He was accompanied by Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice-Chancellor, Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST).

The proposed centre will incubate and develop one of the 75 Students’ Satellites from India at IUST. The development of the “Kashmir Satellite”, to be launched by ISRO, will serve as a landmark achievement, promoting research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in space technology among the youth of J&K. This mission is part of the nationwide initiative under the 75 Students’ Satellites Program, coordinated by University Space Engineering Consortium-India, which works to provide hands-on space engineering education and capacity-building opportunities for students.

The initiative is expected to open pathways for advanced research, skill development, and industry linkages in satellite and space technologies for J&K’s students, reinforcing India’s mission to build self-reliance in strategic sectors.
