LG Manoj Sinha with Dr. K. Gopalakrishnan discussing Kashmir Satellite project at IUST

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 23: Dr. K. Gopalakrishnan, Project Director, 75 Students’ Satellites Mission called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, today and discussed the establishment of a Satellite Incubator Centre at IUST.  He was accompanied by Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice-Chancellor, Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST).

The proposed centre will incubate and develop one of the 75 Students’ Satellites from India at IUST. The development of the “Kashmir Satellite”, to be launched by ISRO, will serve as a landmark achievement, promoting research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in space technology among the youth of J&K. This mission is part of the nationwide initiative under the 75 Students’ Satellites Program, coordinated by University Space Engineering Consortium-India, which works to provide hands-on space engineering education and capacity-building opportunities for students.

The initiative is expected to open pathways for advanced research, skill development, and industry linkages in satellite and space technologies for J&K’s students, reinforcing India’s mission to build self-reliance in strategic sectors.

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 23: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today interacted with the members of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in Srinagar.

The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the efforts of the Indian Chamber of Commerce to promote the interests of trade, commerce, and industry in Jammu Kashmir. He said the ICC’s members meeting at Srinagar will provide a platform for networking and collaboration for local businesses.

The Lieutenant Governor, in his address, spoke about the investment opportunities, prevailing peace and economic transformation taking place in Jammu Kashmir over the past few years.

“Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Jammu Kashmir is witnessing the industrial revolution and UT of J&K has emerged as an attractive destination for investment.

We have achieved historic milestones in road, air, and rail connectivity, successfully extending the reach of industrial investment to every corner of Jammu & Kashmir,” the Lieutenant Governor said.


The Lieutenant Governor also lauded the significant contribution of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in policy advocacy, partnership with the global business community and discharging its responsibility of connecting investors, regulation for a business-friendly environment and increasing India's competitiveness in the global market.

He said the role of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, as one of the important pillars of our strong economy is extremely important in the historic and transformative journey of India towards Viksit Bharat in 2047.

The Lieutenant Governor also thanked all the business leaders and stakeholders who have contributed to attracting domestic and foreign investment and establishing India as a stable and strong economy.

He assured industry players and potential investors of all necessary support and handholding to explore profitable investments and economic opportunities in J&K.

GANDERBAL, AUGUST 20: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the Administrative Block and Amphitheatre at Central University of Kashmir, Tulmulla Campus, Ganderbal.



In his address, the Lieutenant Governor spoke about the need for vital contribution by academicians and students as India is poised for significant growth over the next two decades with the ultimate objective of Viksit Bharat@ 2047.

“Our growth model should focus on creating human capital that can contribute significantly to economic growth,” he said.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the importance of providing an engaging learning environment, foster critical thinking and life skills, problem solving and innovation among students.

“We must get rid of 'Sab Chalta hai Attitude' and make revolutionary changes in the old curriculum of Colleges and Universities to transform India into a knowledge economy. Our topmost priority should be investment in human capital, innovation and research.

The occasion also witnessed the commencement of a 7-day induction programme for newly recruited faculty of the Central University of Kashmir.

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 19: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha delivered the inaugural address at 22nd Foundation Day of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University through video conference. Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor said Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University today stands as a beacon of knowledge, innovation, inspiration and cultural pride of Jammu & Kashmir, recognized and respected not only at national but global level.

“Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is playing an important role in creating human resources in accordance with the global changes. In its journey the University has blossomed into an institution of excellence, nurturing minds and transforming lives,” the Lieutenant Governor said.



The Lieutenant Governor announced that the long pending persistent demand of non-teaching employees of the University belonging to lower middle level and below has been fulfilled.

This decision reaffirms our commitment to fairness, talent retention, and professional growth. This move will strengthen the foundation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and provide the employees with a renewed sense of stability in their jobs, empowering them to contribute to the university's development with even greater confidence and dedication,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor also congratulated the management, faculty, staff and students of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University for making its mark among the top 100 universities in the country, in a short span of time.

It is inspiring to see the university's transformation into a multi-disciplinary institution, in line with the National Education Policy. The increasing enrolment in programs like Design Your Own Degree, B.Tech-Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and MSc Data Science is also impressive, he said.

The Lieutenant Governor called upon the faculty members to develop a skill-driven learning environment in the campus.

“We have the onerous responsibility of preparing the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, architects and skilled professionals in the country,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The Lieutenant Governor also encouraged the students to dedicate the skills and knowledge they acquired at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University to contribute to nation-building.

He observed that the creation of a developed India and the prosperity of the society are the criteria for the usefulness of education. He asked the Alumni to address the needs of the society and contribute in improving the university.

The Lieutenant Governor also paid homage to the citizens who have lost their lives during the recent natural calamities in Kishtwar and Kathua.

With a whole-of-government approach, relief work is underway on a war footing. I have also spoken to the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the Hon'ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji and the Government of India is fully committed to proper rehabilitation of the affected families as quickly as possible, he further said.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 4: The Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today said that Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari will usher a new era for Jammu Kashmir Union Territory.

The Lieutenant Governor said that world's highest Chenab Railway Bridge, a network of 36 tunnels and 943 other bridges for year-round connectivity reflects a rising Kashmir's dreams and commitment of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in shaping Jammu Kashmir Union Territory's new chapter.

“Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has created an inclusive and vibrant future for Jammu Kashmir. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Jammu Kashmir has witnessed a new dynamism in every sector and inclusive growth has ensured no section of society is left behind. Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision and speedy implementation of development projects on the ground has left a significant imprint on Jammu Kashmir's growth and what earlier seemed impossible has been made possible,” the Lieutenant Governor said. 

The Lieutenant Governor elaborated that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Jammu Kashmir 5 times since 2022 to inaugurate and to lay the foundation of major infrastructure projects worth Rs 64,400 Crores besides 53 projects worth Rs 58,477 Crore under PMDP, other connectivity and development projects worth thousands of Crores are setting Jammu Kashmir on a trajectory of rapid growth.

“The Rail Project worth Rs 43,780 Crores, connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari is an engineering excellence that will create an ideal environment for trade, business, all weather transportation and I strongly believe, it’s a railway line to future,” the Lieutenant Governor observed. 

The Lieutenant Governor stressed that Jammu Kashmir is poised to become a developed and Aatm-Nirbhar Union Territory under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said the Prime Minister’s New Vision for New Jammu Kashmir ensured rapid social and economic change and a prosperous society which treats all its citizens as equals.
