 Jammu: Jammu University celebrated International Mother Language Day with a special event organized by its club Consortium-UtSAAH under the banner of the Translation Club. 
Themed "Buzurgon Ki Baat, Yuvaon Ke Saath," the event facilitated an interaction between senior members of the Gojri, Bakarwali, and Sarazi-speaking communities and students.
The elders shared insights into the cultural and linguistic richness of these languages, fostering awareness and appreciation among the youth. 
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Prakash C. Anthal, Chairperson of UTSAAH commended the Translation Club’s efforts, emphasizing "UTSAAH—The Club Consortium is dedicated to celebrating Jammu’s linguistic diversity and offering students a platform to showcase their talents."
He further highlighted that, in alignment with Vice Chancellor Professor Umesh Rai’s declaration of Jamburiyat as the club's central theme for the year, all activities would be conducted in its spirit. 
Professor Garima Gupta, Coordinator of the Translation Club, reaffirmed the club’s commitment to promoting the diverse languages of the Jammu region and ensuring that young people recognize their linguistic heritage. 
The event aimed to provide a space where students could learn from the wisdom of senior community members while reinforcing the unity of Jammu through its linguistic diversity.
Faculty, staff, officers, and students from various language backgrounds actively engaged with the resource persons and each other. 
The event was conducted by Shubam Chowdary and Himani, students of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Jammu. Dr Pardeep Singh extended formal vote of thanks.
Others present on the occasion included Prof Dushyant Kumar Rai, Dr. Pardeep Singh Bali, Dr. Ramiyan Bhardwaj, Ms. Kumerjit Chajgotra, Dr. Rigzen, Ms Supriya Sharma,  Sumit Sharma, Ms. Ifra Kak, and  Kulbhushan.
