SAMBA, AUGUST 06: NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) and Eco Club (GREEN WARRIORS) of Government Degree College Vijaypur culminates with three days long plantation drive in and around the college campus that started on 4th August.

In the drive, NSS volunteers, green warriors, students and staff members both teaching and non-teaching in large numbers actively participated in the plantation drive with great enthusiasm, zeal and fervor.

The drive was organized under Swachhta Pakhwada Programme in conjunction with the Independence Day, 2024 celebrations under the guidance of the Principal of the College Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Verma.

In this plantation drive various indigenous plant species of different varieties were slammed to make the college campus green and pollution free followed by cleaning of the campus.

In a significant effort to contribute to environmental conservation and promote a greener tomorrow this drive was organized to nurture a sense of patriotism among the college students and NSS volunteers towards our soil- a land that witnessed martyrdom of many freedom fighters for the freedom of India.

Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of the NSS Unit and Eco club. She said that together, we can build a greener, healthier, and more resilient future. She further articulated that it’s a testament to our commitment to safeguarding the environment and leaving a positive impact.

Whole of the event was organized with the full support and coordination of the senior faculty members of the college Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Dr. Anoop Bhagat (HOD Sociology) and Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education). The event was coordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and Prof. Poonam Kundan (Nodal Officer SwachhtaPakhwada) and co-coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri) and Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography).
