SHOPIAN, APRIL 10: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today visited  historical Mughal Road up to Pir Ki Gali to take stock of the traffic worthiness of the road, post completion of snow clearance from Shopian side.

DC took stock of snow/ rock debris removal at vulnerable spots that remain affected due to continuous slide.

DC also met DC Poonch,Vikas Kundal at Pir ki Gali and discussed its re-opening.

The Mughal Road, a strategic link between the Pir Panjal area  and Shopian district in South Kashmir is a critical route for transport and public movement and the administration is eager to throw it open for traffic subject to the good weather conditions and traffic worthiness.

The decision to re-open the road shall be taken  in consultation with district administration Poonch.

DC directed the concerned departments to expedite the clearance work of slide and rockfall completely so that safety protocols are in place for smooth and safe travel.

The administration shall be closely monitoring the situation of Mughal Road on a daily basis, said DC on the occasion and assured that the road will be opened for traffic soon.
