SRINAGAR, AUGUST 23: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today interacted with the members of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in Srinagar.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the efforts of the Indian Chamber of Commerce to promote the interests of trade, commerce, and industry in Jammu Kashmir. He said the ICC’s members meeting at Srinagar will provide a platform for networking and collaboration for local businesses.

The Lieutenant Governor, in his address, spoke about the investment opportunities, prevailing peace and economic transformation taking place in Jammu Kashmir over the past few years.
“Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Jammu Kashmir is witnessing the industrial revolution and UT of J&K has emerged as an attractive destination for investment.
We have achieved historic milestones in road, air, and rail connectivity, successfully extending the reach of industrial investment to every corner of Jammu & Kashmir,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He said the role of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, as one of the important pillars of our strong economy is extremely important in the historic and transformative journey of India towards Viksit Bharat in 2047.
The Lieutenant Governor also thanked all the business leaders and stakeholders who have contributed to attracting domestic and foreign investment and establishing India as a stable and strong economy.
He assured industry players and potential investors of all necessary support and handholding to explore profitable investments and economic opportunities in J&K.

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 07: After the successful completion of the first phase of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’, the Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta reviewed the preparations for the upcoming 2nd phase of the programme to commence from 1st Sept to 30th of October.
Besides Secretary, Tourism & Culture, the meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, RDD; Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce; Secretary, Transport and other concerned officers.
In the outset, the Chief Secretary commended the role of Divisional and District administration for their extraordinary performance in terms of creating record number of Shilaphalakams besides being among top in other aspects of this programme.
Dr Mehta stated that during the first phase of this nationwide programme, there was the vibrant display of unity and patriotism all across the UT which resulted into taking it among the top performers in the country despite smaller population than most of the States and UTs.
Regarding the 2nd phase of this programme, the Chief Secretary impressed upon all the concerned to work with similar enthusiasm with each other. He asked them to work as a team in spirit of the whole-of-government-approach to obtain the desired results at par with the first phase.
He enjoined upon them to make prior arrangements for all the events to be carried out under this phase. He asked for involving the youth clubs, SHGs, PRI and ULB members besides other responsible citizens of the society in successful conduct of the programme.
He directed the Culture Department to liaise with the J&K Resident Commissioner, Delhi for making necessary arrangements for youth volunteers who would go to Delhi for participating in the national level celebrations.
He asked them to also make special arrangements for conduct of UT level programme at both Srinagar and Jammu. He impressed upon the Deputy Commissioners to monitor both Panchayat/Municipality level programmes so that these are held in a festive manner as per their true spirit and in a befitting manner.
While giving details the Secretary Tourism and Culture, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah informed the meeting that the UT has done a remarkable job during the first phase of Meri Maati Mera Desh programme. He made out that over 20000 events were organised in the UT with 100% participation of Panchayats and ULBs.
He also gave out that more than 8000 Shilaphalakams were established during the first phase besides 6000+ Amrit Vatikas and felicitating more than 3000 brave hearts across the districts of J&K. He gave out that this performance has put J&K as the top performer among UTs and placed it at 6th place in overall ranking in the country.
It was further given out that the second phase is going to be conducted between 1st of September till 30th of October this year. It was said that the phase is marked by collection of soil or rice in Amrit Kalash from households in every village which would be quite a festive occasion as per the local traditions. The taking of Panch Pran pledge at time of ‘mitti’ and rice collection is also part of the programme, as was added during the meeting.
Elaborating further, it was given out that thereafter mixing of soil from Amrit Kalash collected from villages in a Amrit Kalash placed at Block level shall be undertaken in a festive atmosphere befitting the occasion. In addition the felicitation of martyrs and organization of cultural programmes at block level in honor of brave hearts with active involvement of volunteers of NSS, NYKS, NCC, Hindustan/ Bharat Scouts and Guides, Angawandi Workers and other youth volunteers with special emphasis on women participation is to be contemplated.
Similar events at UT level in the twin capitals of Jammu and Srinagar would follow the district level events. On 26th October, the Amrit Kalash Yatra shall be flagged-off by the Lieutenant Governor for their participation in the national level celebrations. The youth volunteers shall travel to national capital along with their respective Amrit Kalashs to represent their areas in celebrations of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ programme.
The programme was attended by scientists, beekeepers, farmers, officers, officials of the department and other stakeholders.
Director Agriculture in his inaugural address underlined the importance of beekeeping and said that in rural areas bee keeping is an important source of income and livelihood for many landless farmers, small and marginal farming families.
He said that under the holistic Agriculture development programme a multi-crore project has been approved by the UT administration for the development of this sector over the period of five years.
Director Agriculture said the honey bees play a crucial role towards food security by pollinating thousands of flowering plants, therefore a special approach is adopted by the department for the development of this sector.
Iqbal said that the ‘promotion of Bee-Keeping in UT of J&K’ project is one of 29 projects approved by the J&K administration and recommended by the apex committee for holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors. He said the project aims at addressing various issues by increasing the number of colonies through cluster formation, encouraging bee- preneurship and bee- start-ups beside value addition and marketing.
ADDC Budgam, Akramullah tak who was the guest of honour on the event released a Souvenir regarding the projects, programmes and initiatives by the department for the development of beekeeping sector in the district.
Earlier, Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam, Syed Tafazal Hussain Madni gave an overview of the bee-keeping scenario in the district. He appraised the chief guest regarding various interventions by the department for the promotion of beekeeping in the district.
Organiser of the awareness programme, Adina Altaf through a powerpoint presentation briefed the participants about the aims and objectives of the two days awareness cum training programme.

The principal threw light on the role played by teachers in nation-building and emphasised the need for obedience and respect towards teachers to succeed in life. He also distributed the flowers among teachers as a symbol of love, respect, and an acknowledgement of their good work.
The faculty appreciated this compassionate gesture coming from the head of the institution.
The event was hosted by the students of the college who treated their teachers to a gala event and showcased their talent in various cultural programmes. The students presented various scintillating cultural programmes, poetry, song and dance and delivered thoughtful speeches, and a short skit relevant to the theme of Teachers Day.
Audiences present on the occasion, both students as well as teachers, expressed their deep appreciation for the various programmes presented at the event.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mehlika student of the 6th semester who thanked the principal of Amar Singh College, Convenor Cultural Committee, faculty and the students of Amar Singh College for making this programme a huge success.

SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 05: In order to highlight and promote the virgin tourist destinations of the district, the District Information Centre (DIC) Shopian today conducted a media exposure tour to Dubjan -Peer Ki Gali tourist hotspots in Shopian district.
The media tour to Dubjan and Peer Ki Gali is the District Administration’s one of the promotional exercises to promote newly notified tourist destinations of the district.
Media persons belonging to different national and local organisations took part in the exposure tour and highlighted the Tourist activities and infrastructural interventions being made to develop the eco-tourism potential of the tourist circuit.
The area is known for many mesmerizing and breathtaking spots, including the Heerpora Wildlife Sanctuary, along the historic Mughal Road and the twin springs of Dubjan besides Mughal Sarai, and multiple trekking routes.
The area offers scenic pleasure for tourists and travelers alike. Expansive Rambiara with its clear waters and dense forests, excite one and all who embark on the journey towards the Peer Ki Gali.
The area is being developed by the Dubjan - Peer Ki Gali Tourism Development Authority in many ways ranging from building hutment areas, cafeterias, development of parks, walkways and creating public convenience points, among other interventions, said CEO, Ghalib Hussain.
He said efforts are being made to lure tourists and provide them all sorts of facilities for a comfortable journey.
The area also comes under the Tourist Network Plan of Mission Youth which has many incentives to offer for locals for developing tourist infrastructure and building livelihood of the local population.
The media persons were also felicitated on the occasion for their endeavours of highlighting developmental and welfare measures of the government in the district.

During the workshop, the resource persons generated awareness about the negative impact of corruption, ways to combat it, awareness about online services, smart metering etc.
Many awareness camps were held in various areas of Tehsil Wakoora including Batwina, Kurhama, Batpora, Khanpora etc wherein many grievances particularly pertaining to revenue matters were resolved on-spot.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director said, “To meet the requirement of trained Artificial Insemination technicians in rural areas, the training and induction of MAITRIs has been undertaken under central scheme Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM). Through MAITRIs, timely AI services shall be delivered at farmers’ doorsteps thereby vastly benefitting the farming community.”
The Director further stated that MAITRIs are chosen from amongst unemployed educated youth from across the districts of Jammu division and are trained at accredited AI training institutes according to the module developed by Govt. of India. She further said that besides providing boost to the breed improvement in local cattle through AI services, MAITRIs shall also gain sustainable self-employment avenues to earn their livelihood by getting honorarium in lieu of discharging prescribed services in their respective areas of work.
While giving details about the progress made under this initiative, the Director said that the target for the year 2023-24 is to train and induct 700 MAITRI workers out of which as on date 356 MAITRIs have been trained and equipped to deliver AI services. Further, 195 candidates are currently undergoing training at AI training institute, Bhatinda, Punjab, she added.
The function among others was attended by CEO, Livestock Development Board Jammu, Dr. Raman Kumar Gupta, Chief Animal Husbandry officer Jammu, Dr. Zahid Saleem, Extension Officer, Dr. Nadeem Ahmed, Technical Officer (Gen.), Dr. Rajeev Manhas and officers from Livestock Development Board Jammu.
The awareness camps were held on the instructions of Director Tourism Kashmir, Raja Yaqoob.
During the two day long camps the inhabitants of these localities were briefed about the tourism potential of these areas, the benefits of Homestays like equal economic growth of all areas, eco friendly nature of accommodation, promotion of local culture and cuisine.
An important feature of this awareness drive was an interactive meeting and interface between the residents of these areas and local administration particularly Revenue and Police Departments during which the local residents were guided about the formalities to be undertaken while registering for Homestays in a single window clearance mode.

BANDIPORA, AUGUST 28: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the ‘Shinon Meeras’, the Shina Cultural Centre, curated and developed by the Indian Army and District Administration.
“The centre is a unique tribute to preserve and promote the glorious artistic heritage of Dard-Shin tribal community and to provide glimpses of its rich culture to the world,” the Lt Governor said.
India’s first museum for Dardis traces the journey of Shina culture, languages and Gurezi way of life. I believe Shinon Meeras will become the centre of attraction for travelers visiting this best off-beat destination of India, he said.
The Lt Governor appreciated the joint effort of Army, District Administration and the Tourism Department for acknowledging the immense contribution of Dard-Shin community in nation-building.
The Army had partnered with reputed institutions of the country to build the museum. It has a mix of digital displays, exhibits, artifacts, textiles, interactive boards and various sections including Dardistan, Kishanganga River, Gurezi way of life, Language Section, Symbiotic Relationship with Indian Army, Souvenir Section and AV room. The Sand Art will display the operation ERAZE - Indian Army operation for liberation of Gurez in 1948.
At the inaugural ceremony, the Lt Governor shared the efforts of the UT Administration for the inclusive development of Gurez.

The Lt Governor also highlighted the new initiatives taken to tap the tourism potential of Gurez.
Speaking on the power sector, the Lt Governor said the sector had remained a matter of great concern for the people of Gurez for decades.
The Lt Governor informed that the administration has decided to extend Kisan Sampark Abhiyaan by 15 days and impressed on the officials to connect more farmers from Gurez with the endeavour.
At Gurez, the Lt Governor also met with various public delegations including PRI representatives, members of Hoteliers and Youth Club Associations and assured them time bound redressal of their genuine issues and grievances.
On the occasion, the Lt Governor flagged off Dawar - Drass - Darchik car rally connecting the Dard community of Gurez to Ladakh, and unveiled a Shina Language Primer for promoting the use of Shina mother tongue amongst children of Gurez.
