DC calls upon public to promote local culture among young generation

SAMBA, JANUARY 11: District Administration Samba, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, today inaugurated a two day BIRSA programme to celebrate and promote rich Dogra Heritage.

Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. She called upon all sections of society to come forward and promote the cultural ethos of Dogra Heritage. The annual program for identification of talent in young and senior  sections of the population was organized in the conclave Hall of the DC Office.

After inaugurating the BIRSA, a talent hunt programme, the DC informed that a multitude of activities would be organized during the program like Parola making, local cuisine competitions, Folk dance and song competition, Dogri poetry, heritage quiz, besides other competitions. A large number of entries of participation have been received for the competitions in above 18 years and below 18 years age categories.

Among winners in Singing  Surjeet Kumar bagged first position, Sanju Kumar,  2nd and  Aastha Singh bagged  3rd position, while in dance  Jr category, first position was bagged by Anshika Choudhary, 2nd byPrincess Manyata Sethi and 3rd by Vishali Bhagat. In the senior category, in the dance competition, Vaniket, Kapil, and Isha Gangotra were declared winners.

In Heritage quiz Komal, Priya, Reina and Gourav were declared winners, while in Poetry Recitation Competition (Senior Category) Ist Prize was bagged by Asharf Ali, 2nd by Ravinder Singh and 3rd position by Romit Choudhary, while in Junior category Ist Position went to Kavish Slathia and 2nd Position went to Tanish Slathia and 3rd position to Seema Kumari.

The winners as well as participants will be given mementos, certificates besides handholding for pursuing their talent as a career.

The final leg of Birsa -A talent Hunt competition programme under Waste to art, Parola and Local cuisines will be organized tomorrow at Samba Fort followed by the grand culmination under Lohri function.

Special Judges were invited for adjudicating the performances of participants including  Arvind Kotwal, S M Sahani in Heritage Quiz, in Singing Raman Slathia, Chhajju Singh Katal, Ajit Khajuria and in Dancing Ravi Dutta, Partiksha Sharma, Rakesh Kumar in Poetry Recitation Bishan Singh Dardi, Rajeshwar Singh and Khajur Singh.

Among others ADDC Rajinder Singh,  CPO Sukhleen Kour, PO Icds Joginder Jasrotia, DIO Ajay Sharma, AD Handicrafts Niharika Kaushal and other officers were also presen
