UDHAMPUR, MAY 22: To raise awareness on E-waste and its management, a lecture was organized by Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Club, ECO Club and NSS unit of Government College for Women Udhampur, under Mission Life for environment and World Environment Day, 2023 and under the presidency of G20 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The event was held under the guidance of the College Principal Prof. Anjali Mahajan and convenorship of Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof. Tania Mahajan and Prof Sumita Rao, in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. About 110 students attended the awareness lecture.

         Prof Paramjit Singh was the resource person, who introduced the students to this burning issue of E -waste and its management which is posing threat to the environment.

In his lecture, he discussed in detail the various types of E-wastes, their effects on humans, plants and animals. Besides, he also suggested different ways of its management.  He stressed that 3 R’s i.e, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle should be followed by everyone to manage any type of E-waste that may lead to sustainable development of the nation.

           Earlier, Prof Sumita Rao, NSS PO presented the formal welcome address and Dr. Kewal Kumar, Convenor SAP Club and Expert advisor Eco presented formal vote of thanks.

          The event was graced by the presence of Dr.Sanjeet Kour, Nodal Officer AKAM, Dr. Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor of Physics,  Sanjeev Upadhyay, Assistant Prof. of Sanskrit, Yash Paul, Assistant Professor of History, Ms. Tania Mahajan, Assistant Professor of Zoology,  Dr. Dinesh Kumar (PTI),  Rajinder Sing, Assistant Prof. of Punjabi and  Pooja Bharti, Assistant Professor  of Geography.
