JAMMU, 02, JULY 2023: Thousands of devotees thronged the Siddh Goria Swankha temple in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on Sunday to participate in the annual fair organized in the memory of Baba Siddh Goria Nath Ji.
The fair, held on the first Sunday of July, is a major religious event of the region and attracts devotees from all over Jammu and Kashmir as well as other parts of the country.
The day began with traditional worship at the temple followed by a procession of devotees around the temple premises. The procession was led by the Mahant of the temple.
After the procession, devotees offer prayers at the temple and take a dip in the holy tank. He also participated in various cultural programs and fairs organized as part of the fair.
The fair was organized by the temple committee in collaboration with the district administration. The district administration had made elaborate security arrangements for the fair and deployed a large number of police personnel to ensure the safety of the devotees.
The fair was a festive occasion and devotees were seen enjoying with their friends and family. They were also seen buying souvenirs and gifts from the stalls at the fair.
The fair concluded with a cultural program presented by local artistes in the evening.
Baba Siddha Goriya Nath Ji was a Hindu saint who lived in the 12th century. He was a disciple of Guru Gorakh Nath Ji and is said to have performed many miracles. He is revered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and his temple at Swankha is a popular pilgrimage site.
The annual fair at the temple is a major religious event and attracts thousands of devotees from all over the region. The Mela is a time for devotees to come together and celebrate the life and teachings of Baba Siddha Goriya Nath Ji.
