DODA, MARCH 08: In a significant step towards improving school infrastructure, Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh today flagged off desks made from recycled waste material for various schools across the district. This eco-friendly initiative aims to enhance classroom facilities while promoting sustainability and effective waste management in educational institutions.

The flag-off ceremony was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Doda, in the presence of Director Social Welfare Ropesh Kumar; Chief Education Officer (CEO); District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Tariq Qazi; Managing Director of IPCA Ranveer Singh; and Principal of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Rishi Kumar. Teachers and other officials from the education and social welfare departments were also present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasised the importance of utilizing recycled materials to create a more sustainable and cost-effective learning environment. He highlighted that this initiative aligns with the government’s vision of promoting environmental consciousness and resource efficiency in public institutions. The desks, crafted from repurposed waste, will be distributed to schools across the district, ensuring better seating arrangements for students.

The initiative also underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure in government schools, providing students with improved facilities for a conducive learning atmosphere. The officials present at the event appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders involved in the project and encouraged similar eco-friendly initiatives in the future.
