Thrilling matches mark successful conclusion at RS Sports Academy, Jammu
Jammu, November 7: The Badminton event of the 2nd Jammu & Kashmir Masters Games concluded
successfully at the RS Sports Academy, Miran Sahib, Jammu, bringing together
seasoned players who displayed remarkable skill, determination, and
sportsmanship. The tournament was organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Masters
Games Association (JKMGA) in affiliation with the Super Masters Games and
Sports Federation (India), and witnessed enthusiastic participation across
various age groups.
The matches were held under the supervision of Romesh Sharma, Treasurer
of JKMGA, who ensured smooth and fair conduct of all fixtures. The competition
was divided into two age categories — 30 to 45 years and 45 to 65 years — and
featured several closely contested encounters that kept spectators engaged
throughout.
In the 30 to 45 years category, Akshay Behal emerged as the winner in
the men’s singles event, defeating Balwinder Saini, who settled for the silver
medal. The bronze medals were shared by Amit Dalal and Pankaj Vig. In the
doubles event, the pair of Mohit Jain and Makrand Mehta clinched the gold
medal, while Amit Dalal and Amit Bhat bagged the silver. The bronze medals were
won jointly by the pairs of Pankaj Vig with Ankush Jamwal, and Balwinder Saini
with Romesh.
The 45 to 65 years category also witnessed intense matches and
impressive displays of experience and endurance. Vivek Slathia claimed the gold
medal in men’s singles, with Joginder Pal Sharma securing the silver. The
bronze medals were shared by Amit Singh and Jasvinder Singh. In the doubles
event, Amit Singh and Jasvinder Singh joined forces to win the gold medal,
while the combination of Vivek Slathia and Joginder Sharma took silver. The
bronze medals were shared by the pairs of Narinder Singh with Chaman Sharma,
and Romesh Raina with Rameshwar Singh Manhas.
President of JKMGA and veteran international handball player, Ranjeet
Singh Chib, congratulated all the participants for their enthusiasm and
commitment, emphasizing the importance of sports participation among masters.
“The Masters Games are not just about competition, but about celebrating the
enduring passion for sports and the spirit of healthy living,” Chib said.
General Secretary Neete Kour Khalsa also lauded the participants, noting that
such events inspire adults to remain active and connected to the sporting
community.
