 UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 23: Department of Horticulture, Udhampur today organized an Awareness camp on “Horticulture Mechanization” here at Panchayat Rehmbal Lower-2. A large number  of farmers/orchardists of Block Udhampur participated in the camp.

Chief Horticulture Officer, Rajinder Kumar discussed in detail   different schemes of the department and held a fruitful interaction with the participants/farmers/orchardists. He laid stress on soil testing, integrated pest and disease control practices and use of bio-fertilizers/bio-pesticides in order to promote organic cultivation of fruits. 

The CHO emphasized on quality fruit production with the use of modern techniques available with the department. The orchardists were also made aware about the different measures undertaken by the Department of Horticulture for the betterment of fruit growers. Horticulture Development Officer, Udhampur gave an introductory lecture on importance of mechanization in the management of the orchards and also discussed different measures to increase the income of orchardists. Block Development Council Chairman, Udhampur, Balwan Singh motivated the farmers to come forward for getting the maximum benefits under different CSS/UT schemes of the Horticulture Department.

 Sarpanch  Shamsher Singh (Rehmbal Lower-2),  Sushma Devi (Rehmbal Lower-1) and other PRIs members of different panchayats i.e  Surinder Sharma, Asha Choudhary &  Munna Ram participated and also made interactions with the visiting officer and advice the farmer to avail the benefits from the existing schemes and uplift their socio-economic livelihood.
