Director Agriculture conducts 2- Day Extensive Tour of Udhampur District

 UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 23: To review the development works in the agriculture sector and the preparedness and sensitization of field extension agencies, Director Agriculture K.K. Sharma conducted a 2-day tour of district Udhampur.

During the visit, Director Agriculture K.K. Sharma interacted with field staff and visited far off areas of Pancheri Garlic Cluster, Hi Tech Mushroom Unit at Pathi developed under National Horticulture Board, as well as initiatives of Chief Agriculture Complex viz. Urban Farming Model, Medicinal/ Aromatic Plants, Mushroom Units, Polyhouse, Hydroponic Units for fodder, vegetables and Aquaponics. He also visited the “Kisan se Dukaan Tak” stall displaying the organic local produce of farmers.

Thereafter, he chaired a meeting of all District/ Sub- Divisional/ Zonal level officers and reviewed progress of work on the agriculture sector projects. The Director Agriculture also visited Seed Multiplication Farm Kawa.

While briefing the media persons regarding his extensive Two Day Tour of District Udhampur, he expressed gratitude to LG   Manoj Kr. Sinha and Additional Chief Secretary APD, Atal Dullo for their visionary guidance and support.

He highlighted the ongoing as well as future strategic plan of U.T and centre Government for empowerment of the farming community by enhancing their Socio- economic Status under the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan.  

He said under the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan J&K is heading towards a revolution in the agriculture sector. “Under this plan UT level, Divisional Level and District Level orientation trainings are being conducted with the purpose to enrich the field functionaries of all ranks, involving line departments/ state agriculture universities with active support of KVKs at District Level through the master trainers.

 Director also urged the field staff to motivate farmers to adopt specific areas to promote Millets in District Udhampur in accordance with the International Year of Millets-2023.
