SAMBA, NOVEMBER 07: Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur observed two significant national events—the 150th year celebration of “Vande Mataram” and Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas — with great zeal and patriotic spirit.
Marking Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the Department of Education, in collaboration with Yuva Mission, Unnat Bharat, and Shikshit Bharat Clubs, organised screening of a short documentary on the contribution of tribal communities to India’s cultural and national heritage. The documentary highlighted the vital role of tribal groups in preserving ecology, culture, and community welfare. The session, coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education) and Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (Lecturer, Education) concluded with an interactive discussion among students and faculty.
The celebration of “Vande Mataram”, organised by the NSS Unit (KHIDMAT), began with lighting of the traditional lamp ceremony, symbolising knowledge and unity. This was followed by the live streaming of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address, which inspired students and faculty with insights into the song’s historical and cultural significance.
Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce) spoke about the timeless relevance of “Vande Mataram” in strengthening national pride. The event, coordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography), concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
