JAMMU, MAY 09: Director Agriculture Jammu (DAJ) Anil Gupta today conducted a surprise inspection of various sectoral offices and the office of Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Marh to review the functioning of field establishments and assess ongoing developmental activities.
During his visit to SDAO Marh, the Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) briefed the Director about the ongoing agricultural activities and programmes being implemented in the subdivision. The Director also inspected the Development and Establishment Sections of the office and interacted directly with the employees to review their functioning and overall performance.
He sought detailed information regarding seed availability, recovery position and implementation of the Seed Village Programme in the Sub Division. He stressed the need for proper testing of seed samples and directed the officers to ensure timely redressal of farmers’ grievances and issues. He further instructed that a circular be issued to all Chief Agriculture Officers (CAOs) of Jammu Division for conducting fortnightly meetings regularly in their respective districts to ensure better coordination and monitoring of departmental activities.
Emphasis was laid on cleanliness and maintenance of government establishments. He also conducted a thorough inspection of the entire office premises.
Later, the Director Agriculture visited the Divisional Soil Survey Office, Jammu and reviewed the activities and functioning of the office. The Director held one-on-one interactions with the staff members and reviewed their performance and field outreach activities. He also inspected the laboratory and examined the process of testing soil samples being carried out there.
The Divisional Soil Survey Officer (DSSO) Rakesh Kumar Sharma gave a detailed briefing on working of the office.
Subsequently, Director Anil Gupta inspected the Vegetable Improvement Scheme at Krishi Bhawan Jammu. The Floriculture Development Assistant briefed the Director about the number of vegetable seedlings distributed among farmers and the progress achieved under the scheme so far.
